Urbane Liga Klassentreffen

Who is “placemaking” today – and how? At this two-day alumni meeting of the Urban League (Urbane Liga), emerging urban practitioners from across Germany came together at the Floating University in Berlin to reconnect, reflect, and reimagine city-making as a collective practice.

The program combined workshops, shared meals, and open discussions on topics such as participatory urban transformation, legal tools for civic engagement, and the role of intermediaries in shaping urban policy. Alongside internal sessions, the Friday evening was open to the public and included an exhibition on the history of the Urban League, an open bar, and the screening of Speculating on the Void (2024), a film by alumni Jakob Margit Wirth exploring speculative vacancy and artistic resistance in Berlin’s real estate landscape.

Wer gestaltet heute eigentlich Stadt – und wie? Beim zweitägigen Klassentreffen der Urbanen Liga trafen sich junge Stadtmacher:innen verschiedener Jahrgänge an der Floating University in Berlin. In Workshops, Gesprächsrunden und bei gemeinsamen Mahlzeiten wurden aktuelle Herausforderungen und neue Perspektiven des Stadtmachens diskutiert – als kollektive, oft zivilgesellschaftlich getragene Praxis.

Im Fokus standen Themen wie intermediäre Strukturen zwischen Verwaltung und Zivilgesellschaft, Prozessarchitekturen für Transformationen und Ressourcen-Sharing unter Aktiven. Der Freitagabend war öffentlich: mit einer Ausstellung zur Geschichte der Urbanen Liga, einer Bar – und dem Film Speculating on the Void (2024) von Alumni Jakob Margit Wirth, der künstlerische Interventionen in spekulativen Leerstand in Berlin sichtbar macht.
