ISO-LIIERT – Art Installation

“Iso-liiert” addresses the complexity and contradictions behind the mechanisms of social isolation. The artwork serves as a socio-activist investigation, a transdisciplinary collaboration, and an experimental film. Various voices coexist within a video installation that blurs the boundaries between proximity and distance, between center and periphery.

The starting point of the work is the question of what it means to be on the margins of society—and how these margins are defined. Isolation is a state familiar to many—whether it is forced, voluntary, economic, social, geographical, or mental. Division and fragmentation characterize our time, and we are only marginally aware of the consequences.

Methodologically, the exhibition follows an artistic process through experimental, partly performative interviews. The approach includes not only the interviews themselves but also the process-oriented relationships built with the partners. Several gatherings and actions were organized with support from the SIGNAL funding.

“Iso-liiert” addressiert die Komplexität und Widersprüche hinter den Mechanismen sozialer Isolation. Das Kunstwerk versteht sich als sozial-aktivistische Investigation, transdisziplinäre Kollaboration und Experimentalfilm. Dafür koexistieren verschiedene Stimmen in einer Videoinstallation, die die Grenzen zwischen Nähe und Distanz, zwischen Zentrum und Peripherie verschwimmen lässt.

Ausgangspunkt des Kunstwerks ist die Frage, was es bedeutet, am Rand der Gesellschaft zu stehen – und wie dieser Rand definiert wird. Isolation ist ein Zustand, der vielen Menschen bekannt ist – ob gezwungen, gewollt, ökonomisch, sozial, geografisch oder mental. Spaltung und Fragmentierung prägen unsere Zeit, und die gesellschaftlichen Konsequenzen dessen sind uns nur marginal bewusst.

Methodisch verfolgt die Ausstellung einen künstlerischen Prozess durch experimentelle, teils performative Interviewführung. Der künstlerische Ansatz umfasst nicht nur die Gespräche selbst, sondern auch die prozessorientierten Verbindungen, die mit den Partner*innen aufgebaut wurden. Verschiedene Zusammenkommen und Aktionen wurden mit Unterstützung der SIGNAL-Förderung organisiert.
